…

Who lives in your nest?
Our little team of five, my man and I have three little ladies which make our nest overwhelmingly girly at times.
How long have you lived there?
We have called this home for seven years, the longest we have lived in a home of our own. Pre kiddies, my man and I moved house all the time.
What made you move to this nest?
In the depths of infertility, trying to conceive and IVF we needed something to shift our focus. I'm not sure what it was but I just couldn't see children in our first home and couldn't shake the feeling that we needed to move. We dreamt of more space, fewer fences and an escape from cramped housing. This little home, unique, light filled, quirky and surrounded by one acre blocks captured our attention and our hearts.
Could you show us around your nest?
I had a mental checklist in a little home and this house almost ticked all the boxes. We wanted floorboards, natural light, an open fire and individuality. Plus the potential for a great garden. One day we plan to extend, to create a space for quiet time, a place for books and rest.
What makes a happy home {nest} in your opinion?
It's the people that live within it. Its bigger than the roof over our head, the decor and the walls around us and as simple as being together. I love that this little home and its open plan encourages that sense of togetherness.
Where do your kidlets love most to hang out?
You will often find them out in the yard, herding the chookies, collecting eggs, pottering in the garden. Inside, the kitchen is the hub of activity. On most days they are perched up on the kitchen bench drawing or creating.
What is it that you love most about living in your nest?
The natural light that streams in the lovely big windows we have on all sides of our little home. I adore our garden as well, the vegie patch, the fruit trees and the sense of space we have surrounding us. I would love more land but recognise that this also requires more time to maintain and I'm not sure where we would find that extra time at this stage in our life. Happiness in this little home is simple and carefree.
Can you tell us a bit about your favourite space?
The kitchen and its view out across the nature reserve is my most favourite spot. The morning sunshine streams in the windows, it's hard not to smile waking up to that every day. I love the quirks of this little home, it asymmetrical spaces and spiral staircase. (Though I despised the spiral staircase when I was pregnant with my twinnies).
How about your favourite feathering thing? (decorating or precious item)
This little nest houses three of our most precious items, Poppy, Ava and our littlest Blossom. We know what home was like before they came along, the yearning, the quiet, the dreams. I love that they are in our life now and feel so very grateful we have each of them.
Could you show us where you spend most of your bloggy time?
I am conscious of making sure I don't hide away to write my blog. It's a celebration of the here and now and is written in that way. Blogging take place where ever there is space and noise. On most days you will find the laptop amongst the clutter on the kitchen bench. Little ladies adore seeing their happy homes up the screen. Especially those little homes that enter the homes of friends and those who guest release.
Where is the one place in your nest {inside or out} that you feel the most cosy and relaxed?
Late last year we went out and made the extravagant purchase of our ever so comfy King size bed. I adore falling into bed each night. With a house full of (unplanned) co-sleepers we caved and upgraded the bed. Best. Decision.Ever! Every night since, I proudly declare my love for this bed and the comfort it provides. Happiness is a good sleep!
Can you show us around your garden and tell us a bit about it?
I adore our garden this time of year. The colours on our grape vine, the warm still days encouraging outdoor play.
Our garden is a blend of vegetable beds, fruit trees and screening plants. We have been mass planting trees as well, in the reserve and in our yard. This is where our little ones are happiest, pottering planting watching and exploring.
Thanks Kim for thinking of our little home. We are delighted to be included.
