Yesterday

Yesterday we went to visit our lovely unschooling friends out at their gorgeous nest. The drive there is always so very pretty and, although it’ quite a way out, it always helps us wind down and chill a bit. A drive in the countryside does that, don’t you think?

On the way we saw Lewi’s favourite breed of cattle.

And an emu.

On arriving the boys chat-chat-chatted away. These two friends talk a lot. They talk about birds and animals and nature books and movies and XBox. They don’t stop.

After a yummy, yummy lunch the boys took a bag of Nature Club stuff {binoculars, notebook, pencil, camera} and went for a walk in the bush in search of wildlife.

Melinda and I sat in the garden and drank tea and ate cake and chatted about life, as we do.

I got all garden inspired and excited about the new beginnings of my own garden. There’s nothing like sitting in someone else’s garden, sipping tea and chatting to get you all worked up about gardening. I love Melinda’s pomegranate hedge. She’s planted it right around her garden.

And the view towards her newly dug dam has to be one of the most restful views I’ve come across.

And then we went for a walk too.

And I discovered another tree that  I have added to my list of wants – a hawthorn.

Gnarly and bare grey branches for the winter with hints of red autumn leaves. Gorgeous!

A beautiful way to spend a Winter’s day ‘twas yesterday.

What did you get up to?

Such beautiful photos!! I'd love to be getting out in the countyside today. But instead.. I have to clean the house. Sigh.

What beautiful Wintery photos, gorgeous countryside. I agree that it does wonders for the body and soul. We took a drive over the long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our little 'escape' from the big smoke xo
