Persimmon Love

I have a new love and what a beauty it is.

I’ve always loved the taste of persimmon fruit though I have to say I haven’t eaten stacks of them over my life time. Recently I was given some persimmons by Trish {Sarah and  Tom’s sort-of-mum-in-law} recently and I’ve been enjoying their gorgeous plump, orangey beauty while they sit, ripening, on my white-on-white window sill.

But when I came across this .. …..

…. the other day whilst nursery hopping, I fell head over heels in love.

I had no idea that the actual persimmon tree was so delightful to look at!

In late, late autumn and winter it’s all naked branches except for the golden fruit which hangs like exquisite baubles.

In the spring and summer it has glossy green leaves and  a pretty habit. The fruit starts to happen too so you have the added bonus of pretty orange amongst the green and gorgeous shape of the tree.

Then in the autumn the green leaves turn to vibrant orange and gold and mingle amongst the fruit until the leaves, one by one, fall, leaving the persimmon tree bare branched but fruit laden for the winter.

The next tree I buy at the nursery is going to be a persimmon tree or three.

Persimmon love, love, love!

Hi. I'm a new follower and I love persimmon trees too. My parents have one in their backyard and I'm forever being delighted by its all year round sumptuousness (if that's even a word!)

I don't really like the fruit, but that image of the persimmon tree against the blue sky is divine, and those red leaves - that kind of makes me want one! x

Wow, talk about the tree that keeps on giving. It is a gorgeous looking one. I have never eaten persimmon fruit, but now I'm very intrigued.
Beautiful photos xo

I had a big bowl of persimmons sitting on my kitchen bench given to us by a local lady whose tree is absolutely full of them. I was going to make a persimmon and syrup steamed pudding, but unfortunately never got around to it and they all went off. The tree is definitely a stunner.
Happy to see your new nest has begun. Have a lovely week Kim. Leahx

How bizarre...I've been thinking about these today, but haven't tried one before, You have inspired me to try them...then maybe buy a tree too. I am looking at putting in more fruit trees here and a persimmon tree would be a real feature!
