On a beautiful, old dairy farm,

Helga the happy German celebrity,

and the rest of us home schoolers,

met together for a lovely taste of Dutch and German food and fun.

We tasted: pretzels and pumpernickel, salted licorice and sauerkraut. Dutch and german biscuits, bratwurst sausages, Dutch lollies and an apple spread, ginger

bread and sourdough and, thankfully no roll mops – {though I did spy some little herrings. Ugh!}

We played a treasure hunt game, looking for German and Dutch words around the dairy and garden.

We fed the pigs and the cows.

And some of us went on a tractor ride.

We caught tadpoles and patted Jeannie’s cute as bunnies.

And we had fun creating with chalk on the dairy floor.

A big, big thank you to the lovely Sue and Marc for having us all out to your beautiful farm and making us feel so welcome.

What a lovely day we had!

PS. Do you know what those indentations in the cement back up there were? They are the hoof imprints of the dairy cows who spent every morning and every afternoon in that exact spot, possibly for most of their lives. I’ve never seen that before. Have you?

That looked so cool Kim :) I guess the indents were from cows, but i'd never seen them before! Hope you are feeling more settled now. x
