Will It/Won’t It Flood?

Bets are on it’ll flood tomorrow. We are on Flood Alert and heavy rains are predicted for tonight and tomorrow. The whole valley has been talking all week about the floods that are supposedly coming. The build up has been big. Excitement’s in the air. It’s been promising to rain properly for weeks now and all we’ve had is a teensy spot here and there. So no one really thought it would flood this week. Not until now, that is.

The clouds were brewing all day. The air was heavy and moist  not humidly warm but nippy.

Right at this moment it’s pouring. Bucketing down. And now we’ve discovered massive leaks in this old rental place. So many unpacked things – boxes, furniture, linen, precious things all piled up on the enclosed back verandah getting wet. We’ve moved as much as we possibly can. Some books and things are already too far gone. I can’t even think about the other stuff in the other part of the verandah. There’s no light in there. No way to see. But even if there was I wouldn’t want to look. There’s no were else to put it all anyway.

Maybe this is how you get rid of stuff that you won’t fit into a downsized nest?

I’ve just been the grumpiest mum in the world to my boy. The frustration of not being helped quickly when rain’s pouring in and things are being damaged was big. I’ll make it up to him. When I’ve calmed.

Mark’s just rung to say the water is all over the road just down from where we’re living. It’s only been raining for an hour or so.

Definitely flood material.

See you in the morning. Hopefully when I’m a little less stressed out and grumpy.

I'm not convinced a flood is in the wind.... (not ruling it out however....).... ps my track record for flood prediction so far is better than the BOM (who failed to warn residents last big rain...... now if only they had talked to phil or me.... )

I hope it doesn't flood for you! We've had predictions of flooding around our area too, but so far, blue skies this morning!
