Happy New Year!

This is the reason I am not doing New Year’s resolutions this year ….

and also because 2011 has really showed me that all things are not in my control! I’m happy with that.

Thank you so much for hanging out with me here over the past year. You’ve been a contributing factor to my blogging addiction and big fat butt {it’s grown even more since this addiction began. Has anyone else found their butt’s grown since they took up blogging? It’s probably just me!}  I’ve loved connecting with this wonderful blogging community so very, very much. I’ve met so many lovely, lovely people through this little nesty spot and I can’t wait to share another lovely year of Feather & Nesting and sharing and supporting and laughing and, well, hopefully not too much crying, with you guys.

So here’s to a

Guest Post :: Vintage Industrial Lighting

Today’s guest post is from Susi, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, a must-shop resource for beautiful light fixtures and lamps online. Visit their website and cool blog for more information.
Enjoy!
Vintage industrial style is a hot trend right now in design and décor. Combining vintage industrial and factory relics with other vintage finds creates a charming vintage look. Here are 8 vintage industrial spaces that demonstrate how to incorporate vintage industrial style into your décor.

Vintage industrial lighting, like the black pendant light, and an industrial style table create a charming vintage industrial eat in kitchen. Open shelving and black board paint work well with the vintage industrial look.

Vintage French pieces and an industrial cart mix together in this chic bathroom. The masculine style of the vintage industrial cart balances the curves and femininity of the tub and other pieces in the room like the wall sconce.

A vintage industrial cart on metal casters makes for a stylish coffee table. Woods and metals with patina that show their age are key elements of vintage industrial style.

Vintage industrial stools paired with a wooden work table make for a great alternative to a kitchen island in this vintage farmhouse kitchen. The rustic quality of farmhouse combines with industrial chic to create vintage charm. The intriguing metal pendant lights seem delicate as well as industrial.

Vintage industrial lighting used as task lighting or a desk lamp is a great way to bring vintage industrial style into a home office. A simple desk on a sawhorse base and a vintage sign letter add further vintage industrial style.

Loft living is the perfect backdrop for vintage industrial furniture and accessories. An exposed brick wall sets the stage for this vintage industrial table and stools.

Along with commercial stainless appliances and island, architectural salvage gives this kitchen loads of vintage industrial charm. Signage, cogs, gears and burnished metals are key elements of vintage industrial style.

A whimsical entry has a vintage industrial table matched with the perfect light fixture, an industrial extending lamp. The chalkboard wall is charming, especially the umbrella drawing.

Thanks, Susi. I’m loving industrial vintage lighting and each one of those images has something I could steal for my own nest. I’m going to pop on over to Arcadian Lighting right now and take a little peak. Why don’t you join me?

Tea & Toast: Chillin’ Out

OK, well I’m not expecting many of you to even be reading    Tea & Toast today – I’m sure you’re all off chilling out somewhere lovely with lovely family and friends. But, if you do happen to drop by, I thought it might be nice to take a little time out to chill and relax and snooze off those over-indulgences we’ve all had over the past few days.

So, if you are having some Tea & Toast with me today then – hello there! Come on, let’s go and chill out together.

…Oh, and by the way, it’s so OK if instead of tea & toast today you’re sipping something cool and refreshing and perhaps sloshing down a slice or two of pink, juicy watermelon. No seed spitting though, please. The thought alone makes me feel sick.

Let’s go chill together …

So, where would you prefer to chill on a lazy summer post-Christmas day?

Are you a hammock kinda chiller?

Or perhaps it’s the beach for you?

How about this circle swing?

Or maybe a bench seat in the garden?

This could be cool – don’t you think? A picnic under a gorgeous tree – with a funky car to match!

Who wouldn’t want to chill out here in this gorgeous little garden retreat?

Perhaps you’d rather a peaceful paddock of flowers?

The garden is sooo the place to be for me!

Some might even like to chill out in a tent.

Or perhaps, like my Dad, your favourite spot to chill is in the cool of a verandah, overlooking a perfect vista of course.

So, what’s your special place to chill?

I think mine would be in the garden, surrounded by prettiness and lush vegies, under the shade of a huge apple tree, with a book and a cool drink on hand. Oh, and of course a beautiful grapeviney, Mumbulla mountain vista.

Happy Tuesday!

Merry Christmas ::Let There Be Light

Before I duck off to bed after a beautiful day with my family – eating {too much!}, playing, laughing and sharing I just wanted to say:

Merry Christmas!

I so hope you all had a wonderful, wonderful Christmas day. Thank you all so much for reading and sharing in this lovely bloggy life of mine. It’s truly been a  pleasure being a part of such a special bunch of people and I look forward to more wonderful times in bloggy land for the new year.

I wanted to leave you with some gorgeous light images. I love driving around our town and checking out the neighbourhood lights. But, I’ve never been one to have Christmas lights slung everywhere, much to Lewi’s disappointment {he just informed me of this last week when we drove past our old purple nest and saw the verandah strung with lights} but if I ever do, these will be my inspiration…

When the God of the bible said: Let there be light, there was light.

Christ is that Light – the light of the world…

That, to me, is hope. That’s what Christmas is about. Actually, for me, that’s what everyday’s about.

Merry Christmas !
