How are you this rainy, springy Tea & Toast Tuesday?
Well, I’m sorry to say, but I’m feeling a little uninspired. When it comes to cooking in this old rental nest, I’m at a loss. I’m still feeling like I’m living in someone else’s house {well, technically I am} with that awkward feeling of trying to work it all out. The oven is a nice one. Quite new and stainless steel. It looks extremely out of place in this old, old, old house – I can’t imagine what the one it replaced looked like! And it works OK, it seems. But the whole electric thing has put me in a bit of a spin as I’ve been used to cooking with a full gas oven for the past 16 or so years. It is a very different sort of heat and it’s taking some time to get used to. Combine that with my limited unpacked kitchen utensils {the ones I swore I could live without} and my lack of love for the kitchen in this house {light on in the day kind of set up with a few cockroaches that you can see really well in the dark! Ugh!…} and you end up with one very uninspired head chef!
The sad thing is that I normally love cooking. Along with gardening, cooking is my little outlet in life {oh, and of course blogging;)}. So to lose my mojo hasn’t been all that fun.
I’m hoping though, that after today’s Tea & Toast drooly styled food fest, I’ll get my mojo back and get some inspiration happening.
So, are you ready to go on a foodie fest this morning? I hope you’re the sort of person who can handle chocolate first thing in the morning because there’ll be a few little sweet treats here in the mix. I love food styling, though I wish I was better at it. Donna Hay has definitely got the knack, don’t you think? I love those recipe books that make you want to rush out and grab as much fresh produce as you can get your hands on and start preparing a feast for the masses.
Well, that’s the sort of motivating I need right now.
My sister, Sarah, is a full on foodie, especially sweet foods. She was the inspiration behind this post today as I checked out her cute Pinterest boards yesterday. I couldn’t help but feel a little bit excited about cooking and food again. I so hope you feel it to…though I’m sure you haven’t lost your mojo like me.
Alrighty…are you ready? Pour that Tea & butter that Toast… it’s a styled food adventure ahead…
Look at this for a cute dessert idea.

Wouldn’t the kidlets love it? Lewi thought it was real potted mint at first;)
What a way to start the morning…

and end a hard day at work or play…

Zings of colour makes food that little bit {well, a lot!} more inviting, don’t you think?

For me, just seeing bunches, baskets or buckets filled with fresh fruit or vegies makes me want to rush out and prepare something yummy….

Ooooh, I think I’m becoming a little inspired!!!
Who feels like whipping up some creamy pumpkin or perhaps some chicken and potato soup for a tasty, simple lunch? Me, me, me!

Or what about a decadent picnic?

What is it about macaroons that are so enticingly gorgeous?

The colour, perhaps??? ;)

Sweet treats inspiration up ahead…

And on a hot summer’s day, maybe I could get the energy up to make a cool drink or two like this…
And to end our foodie inspiration adventure, have a look at how the humble rose can be an inspirational food delight…

Yep, that’s a real ice cream!!!
So how do you feel after that? I think I’m feeling ready to tackle some cooking once more. Simple, fresh and healthy is going to be my plan for the rest of the week. Looks like this gorgeous cooler weather will be the perfect environment for some heavy duty soup slurping in this little old rented nest. That’s what I’m feeling like right now! Better get cracking…
Happy Tuesday!
Kim xx
*** Woops! This has been posted on Wednesday. Time has been so very short lately. I so hope I can get back on track soon. Happy Wednesday!

You have made me hungry. I too, am going to do a bit of cooking today. It has turned cold hasn't it, so soup may well be on the cards. Leahx
Some lovely photos here. My favorites would have to be the potted mint, pink drinks and roses in ice. xxoo I am into making bread at the moment. Am trying second recipe today. xxoo
