This past year I’ve had a few things on my mind. I’ve been thinking a lot about Aussie Crawl and my heart throb, James Reyne {when I was a teenager of course!} and this song…
All these houses
In a line
Saying hey good morning
So fine
Singing Oh Security
So good
Sticks and Stones and Tombs of Burning wood {James Reyne 1987 self titled album}
because…
… my dining table and my lounge room floor and my rumpus table and my white cabinet have been constantly crammed with all these houses…in a line…! No wonder that song has been playing over and over and over and over in my head.
I’ve been planning and designing and re-planning and re-designing the plans for our new nest over and over and over again, all year. I’ve gone from plan to plan to plan trying to devise the best, most cost effective, space efficient nest for our new, much reduced budget for the future.
You may notice that the roofline is the same on all of these houses. That’s been the one staying factor from the very beginning plans and it’s something I’ve had an obsession with for many, many years now.
Right now, this is what the plan looks like:
Two churchy, barny looking buildings that are joined via a corridor fronted with glass {window or door…not sure yet???}.
Here are some other things that have been on my mind:
Corrugated iron.
Rustic timber pergolas.
… and aluminium.
Raked ceilings.
White.
Shots of colour.
Eclectic, rustic, vintage.

Industrial metal lights.
Big rustic timber table.

Vintage island bench.
North, north, north windows.
View!
Kitchen gardens.
Rustic timber garden and potting shed.
Rustic, white kitchen.
Brick and gravel paths and old gates.
Grapevines.
And a few other things…
Budget! North south rooms. Shipping containers. DA’s. Moving. Temporary living. Roughing it.
How about you? What’s been on your mind lately?

I can see why you have had a lot on your mind. So much to think about when building and moving etc. But I love this kind of thinking and creating. You have some great ideas there. Keep going. Leahxx
It's always been our dream to build and while we think we know what we want if/when that becomes a reality I will be agonising over all the details too I think.
It's such a great creative process though and if these images are any thing to go by your new nest is goint to be spectacular Kim.
Happy planning.
