Life In Our Garden

at the moment there are lots of interesting things happening in our garden, apart from the flowers and vegies and fruit blooming.

november 2010 004There are these little white things which look and feel like  gum nuts but they are white. They seem to be spiders nests. Do spiders have nests? Weird! november 2010 007  The garden has been VERY NOISEY lately! Cicadas are about and making their presence known. The other day it was too noisy under the box elders to jump on the trampoline for very long. It's a big year for cicadas that's for sure.november 2010 009 november 2010 010 And what about this lovely, lovely find? Actually Rae spotted it on a visit recently. High up in our pine tree  we noticed a humongous nest. Just as we were saying: "it must be a mag...." in flew a magpie and out popped the head of a large baby, demanding to be fed. This is the same tree that last years magpie rescue took place in. We are thinking that perhaps this nest was the one they fell out of but because it's so high up we've never been able to see it from directly under the tree. We happened to spot it from the back garden which is quite a long way from the tree. Such a special find for a bird loving boy!

For a place in town, this nest sure is a happening little hive of nature.
