I love winter nights, by the fire, hanging out with Lew and playing Monopoly. It reminds me of my childhood.
We have the Australian Edition. I love all the Tasmanian ones (they are red). Lew loves the NSW ones - Tamworth, Broken Hill and The Snowy Mountains (they are orange). We have our favourites and have an arrangement that we never, ever buy the ones we know the other loves. Is this due to an only child household? Could we do this if we had more kidlets? I think not. I remember fighting like mad over Park Lane with my brother. We'd battle to the death to get our mitts on it. It often ended in tears and sometimes, blood. Oh the Monopoly fun!
A friend of mine has shared with me about her mum's dislike of Monopoly. She hated the fights it caused and the highly competitive nature it brought out in her 4 littluns. What's a childhood without Monopoly though, I say?
We are still going! It's been about 3 days now, since we started this game. Lewi has lots of cash and property and apartments. I've got not much money and a little bit of property and not many apartments. I could be the dark horse though, stranger things have happened. I'm not giving up;)
Seriously though, I try not to make too much out of the 'winner/loser' thing. It was big in my childhood and it caused a lot of cheating and tears. I'm trying to encourage a different atmosphere around the board game table (floor!) here. It's hard going. I can't say there's never been tears but I think, we're getting closer to a place where more fun than not is being had.
Long live Monopoly!!!

same as you we are considerate of each player also.

Ugh I could never stand Monopoly as a kid. I hated dealing with banks and I still do! The whole money and debt and gaol thing made me very anxious.
I like it OK now though. I do wish I could introduce you to Settlers of Catan. It is a similar type of game but you build settlements on an island and have to trade resources. Lewi would like it I think.
How can we arrange a game, we'd need a couple of hours and Luca might not last and Anise certainly wouldn't. But I want to play! Maybe I can visit you alone...
