In December 2009, Joanne moved her business from here...
to here... at Oaklands, Pambula NSW.
Come on, I'll show you how to get there.
Head to Pambula. Turn into the Oaklands driveway right at the gorgeous windmill (I'd like one of these on my wall....but that's another post!).
Pull into the huge car park area
and you'll find a lovely, rustic, Australiana building with a nursery, animal petting barn, camels, pony rides and some lovely shops including a cafe, home wares and garden store, art gallery, animal and farm produce, the Toy Man's display and products for sale, Merv's lovely antique store and, of course, Joanne's shop Holmesdale Homespun.
Have a look at the links here if you'd like to read a bit more about Oaklands:

Once you're out of your car you'll come to this cute red phone booth (I want one of these too...I'm way too covetous!).
Turn left and follow the yellow brick...OK, they're red...road and the Holmesdale Homespun signs
(Lewi drew this spinning wheel when he was 8. So cute!)
to Merv's antique shop.
Go inside and take a look at Merv's beautiful things. This shop is a treasure trove of goodness and all things old.
After you've looked around Merv's and bought a couple of bits and pieces for your nest continue on through his store down to the back....
Voila! Here we are at Holmesdale Homespun.
Great. Now let's have a wander. Come on, I'll show you around...
It's so quirky and rustic and is filled with that lovely 'hand made' feel. My Dad has made some lovely pieces of furniture to display Joanne's creativity.
Joanne has lots of beautiful wools for sale as well as many other bits and pieces.
There's natural wool, Mohair and silk.
There's Nundle Wool
There's landscape dyes that Joanne sells and uses to dye her beautiful wool.
Let's stop and say hi.
When Joanne is not busy serving and chatting with customers you'll find her here, spinning away...producing more beautiful wool and wool products for you to get your hands on. She has been spinning for about 10 years now and loves every bit of it.
Joanne loves to do custom Alpaca hand spinning and dyeing. So if you need this done, go and see her. She is passionate about all things spinning and dyeing and could talk about it all day so go and grab a cuppa from the Cafe next door (say hi to Rosie while you're there) and come and chat with Joanne about all of your spinning and knitting and wool requirements.
She even has a spinning wheel for sale.
Along with her own wool and wool products, Joanne also has some lovely wares from other local artisans. Have a look at these gorgeous bits and pieces. Some heavy-duty feathering could take place with these little numbers. I want, I want, I want.....
Yummy hand made goat milk soap.
How cute's this lil thing? Rosie and I disagree on what it is but we both agree that it's a feathered something or other....a definite feathering item for your nest...don't you think?
Don't you love this red button necklace?
Funky tea cosies. Love, love, love, love, love!!!!!
Covered journals.
Gorgeous hat!
Throws and wraps and jumpers for cold, wintery days.
Cute little possum!
Who could go past a lovely hand made scarf at this time of year?
Well, that's the end of our 'virtual' wander through Holmesdale Homespun...why don't you plan a real trip down there sometime soon and check it out. You'll really love it.
The shop is open 7 days a week from 10:00am - 4:00pm. Go and say hi, she'd love to meet you.
Next Tuesday could be a great time to visit because it's the
World Wide Knitting In Public Day on Tuesday the 15th of June, 2010.
Why don't you pop down to Oaklands at 10:30am and join in the knitting fun. If you want to knit, bring a folding chair and your knitting and join lots of locals for a cosy, fun day together.
There will be a raffle for Breast Cancer Research - you could win something really special...got to be in it to win it;)
You could have morning tea and/or lunch at the Oaklands cafe whilst you knit or, if you're not a knitter maybe Tuesday is the day to learn?
We might see you there!
Peasant Yarns - update for Holmesdale Home Spun as of February, 2011. Name change!
